Sensei Jesse Jones

Sensei Jesse Jones - 9th Defgree Judo Black Belt

The Carlson Gracie Team is honored to have Professor Jones bring his wealth of knowledge to our school. Over the years, many Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu schools have focused more on working from the guard at the expense of the standing aspect of the grapplng arts. It is our belief that in order to be well rounded, one must not only be comfortable on their back, but also be able to take their oppnent to the ground and be efficient in defending takedowns and throws.

Sensei Jones is the highest ranking JUDO instructor in the United States and heads up our JUDO classes. His list of accomplishments is overwhelming. He has served as the head of the United States Judo Association, been on the Olympic commitee, served as a hand to hand combat instructor during his time in the U.S. Marine Corp., he has gained recognition by his peers on an international level, authored publications and taught thousands of students in his experience that spans over half a century. Sensei Jones teaches both kids and adults and is also available for women's and self defense classes. He likes to incorporate his knowledge from other disciplines into his teachings that range from submissions to small joint manipulations and mat work.
