July 10th 2010' San Diego –

Students under the tutelage of Proffesor Jesse Jones competed in the Cal State Games Judo Tournament, an event that allows competitors to qualify for the National State Games of America in 2011'. Joey Sadlak and Lance Cacanindin have enjoyed success in their recent competitions and brought some additional team members from Temecula to compete in Judo for the first time.

Despite facing opponents of much greater experience, Joey Sadlak turned in an inspirational performance in his first Judo competition and was awarded the events "Most Spirited Competitor Award" for his efforts. At the Cal State Games Joey brought home another silver medal and executed some brilliant throws on his opponents. Congratulations Joey.

First time competitors Corey Pier, Kyler Phillips, Jeorge Villalobos and Tom Cronin all placed in their divisions. Kyler and Tom brought in first place finishes and Corey and Jeorge ended up competing against each other in a very long back and forth match with Corey narrowly pulling out the win and the duo brought home 2nd & 3rd place finishes. After the bout Corey responded to Jeorge…"You almost had me….I feel so dead!"

Not to be outdone by his teamates, Lance Cacanindin was determined to compete despite having a popped rib and no mat time for the previous two weeks. After some valiant matches, Lance brought home a silver medal and competed against a brown belt in his division.
