Welcome to the Carlson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu team of the Temecula Valley. The home of Carlson Gracie Jr. and West Coast headquarters for his operations. Our facility offers the best training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from beginners to pro Mixed Martial Artists and Law Enforcement. We also have classes in Muay Thai kickboxing and have a nationally registered JUDO program taught by the highest ranking Judo instructor in the country.

At our school, we focus on the team. Meaning you, the student.

Not everyone has the same reasons for training in the Martial Arts. Some enjoy the excersise, others want to learn self defense and some may wish to pursue a career in MMA or competition. The philosophy of this Team is to teach functional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that you will keep with you for the rest of your life. You will not get watered down technique or be taught how to win a tournament without knowing how to defend yourself on the street. We will teach you to be comfortable anywhere, with or without strikes. On the feet, on the ground, off your back and how to control the situation, and how to have fun while learning it!

We have THE most successful competition team in the Temecula Murrieta area. Hands down.  Our students win in all the major events such as the Pan American, U.S. National and World Championships.  Many of our students are Law Enforcement, Mixed Martial Artists and members of the Armed Forces. Hi everyone! 

I'm Orlando the manager of Carlson Gracie Jiu Jitsu Temecula/ Murrieta and I want to tell you a little about one of our students.

Let me introduce you to Adelita. She is 5'2, 120lbs, mother of two and is a JiuJitsu MACHINE!

She started training just a little over a year at Carlson Gracie Jiu Jitsu. During that time she was awarded a true blue belt from Carlson Gracie Jr, because of her amazing work ethic on the mat. Day after day Adelita worked her butt off to learn the worlds most effective martial art to achieve that blue belt. Being challenged every day, even when others didn't think she could make it (don't you hate when someone says that you can't do it!). Still she rose to the challenge and earned her Blue Belt.

But her biggest challenge yet was the International Brazilian Jiujitsu Federation's Pan American tournament this year. This was the BIGGEST jiujitsu tournament of all time with over 3400 competitors.

So how did Adelita get the gold at the biggest tournament of all time? Well, let's hear from her.

"I came in here on January 2011 to have my son learn how to defend himself from possible bullying at school. I had no previous knowledge of Jiu Jitsu, Judo or anything like that. I saw my son doing it and he seem to be having so much fun, I decide to try it. All I know, is that I started classes in February of 2011.

Today, 1 year and two months later I am in the best shape of my life at age 30. I have won multiple titles in the most prestigious Jiu Jitsu Tournaments including Silver Medalist 2011 IBJJF World Championship (with 4 months of training – lost to my best friend from my school), 2011 IBJJF American National Champion, 2012 IBJJF Pan American Champion (blue belt). I am currently training for the 2012 World Title. I am so happy that Carlson Gracie Temecula made a champion out of me."

Carlson Gracie made his name as a fighter in the era of Vale Tudo, and is considered the best Vale Tudo fighter of the '50s and '60s. His hyper aggressive style of jiu jitsu had a deep influence on the art and his students, including the great Rolls Gracie.

While Rolls went on to add to the art by studying wrestling, sambo and other martial arts and change jiu jitsu completely, Carlson focused more on how to use jiu jitsu in Vale Tudo…

TEMECULA — It's not that wrestlers Jon Wixom and Brad Christensen are necessarily homebodies. Still, it was nice to have a major high school wrestling tournament right in their own backyard this week.

The Chaparral High wrestlers made themselves comfortable in the familiar surroundings at the Temecula Valley Invitational on Saturday, collecting medals at an event that was loaded with some of the premier wrestlers and programs in the state.

Both Wixom, who was third at 182 pounds, and Christensen, who was seventh at 160, are juniors with designs on state-meet medals in March.

"I came in here with high expectations, but competing here was really tough," said Christensen, who defeated Alex Markowski of Colorado Springs (Colo.) Pine Creek 5-0 in the seventh-place match. "All the top schools are here. It was good to get Chaparral's name out there…"

A convicted felon chose the wrong victim when he tried to rob an MMA fighter Friday night on the Southwest Side and ended up with two black eyes and a gunshot wound to the ankle.

Police say 24-year-old Anthony Miranda walked up to a parked car near 55th and Kenneth about 11:30 p.m. and asked the driver—whose identity was not released by police­­—for a lighter.

When the driver said he didn’t have one, Miranda allegedly pulled a handgun, pointed it at the driver and demanded money. After getting some money, he ordered the driver out of the car, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.

At some point, Miranda’s attention was diverted and the victim was able to grab control of the gun and the two wrestled….
